In the previous post, I told you about the one practice that can help get you over the chasm from failing and falling short in your business (and marketing) to getting real traction and results.
It may be simple but it’s obvious, right? If you never step up to the plate, how can you get a hit?
An average hitter in baseball may only get to first base 25% of the time but if they never step up to the plate then it’s 0% of the time. More at bats = more runs.
And it’s the same when it comes to marketing, the greatest marketers aren’t more qualified or more brilliant than anyone else, they just make more attempts. They learned to love the game.
Now, why do I talk so much about this stuff when I specialize in growth hacking?
Because life is more than just the end result. The end only come as a result of dedicated, diligent efforts every single day. It’s about showing up each morning and doing what needs to be done and taking massive action, often in spite of yourself.
And it also means doing this over and over as many times as you need to before you’ve “made it,” often (and usually) in the face of seeming failure.
In this article, I want to hand you off a philosophy that can guide everything you do marketing-wise.
If you’re putting in the actions and it seems like your marketing is not going anywhere… You’re not getting engagement, leads or sales, or worse you maybe even be encountering hostility (or ridicule) at your attempts to promote yourself… And I want you to instill a new mindset shift.
Change your perspective completely from what it is you’re trying to achieve and get and start focusing more on trying to help people get what they want.
You do this by asking them questions. Instead of trying to send them to a page or to get them booked on the call, start off by asking them what you can help them with?
Simply changing your strategy and your marketing message by giving first, can make all of your marketing more successful, and help you build the key relationships that your business needs to grow, which you would otherwise have never made if you were simply sending spam and links to people.
In my 10x growth marketing course, I give you numerous strategies to find targeted prospects and potential partners. There’s one strategy you can watch and start using for free — lesson #4 in this free preview course (there’s no cost to enroll and sign up).
But remember, whenever you start looking for prospects that you want to become leads for your business, always start out by asking whether you can give to others.
Whenever I begin an outreach campaign, for example, I look at it as a chance to build my network and help those new contacts in my network. Doing business together is a byproduct of this philosophy — my first objective is not to get them into my funnel. This helps circumvent any potential hostility before it can take root.
Don’t only develop the habit of failing every day, develop the habit of helping people everyday. I don’t want you to think of this only as a marketing strategy but as a life philosophy and a mindset shift that you adopt for the rest of your life from here on out.
Anytime that you can help others, I want you to chalk that up as a win. Make business about more than just making money and about serving others and you can be successful every single day no matter what is going on.
