In this post, I want to show you one way it is possible, using travel as an example. Who doesn’t love travel? And when it’s free, it’s even better 😄😄

Many people have been traveling for free for decades using points. This is a great option if you don’t travel too often. My mom travels abroad about once every ten years.
In 2019, she visited me in Thailand and we stayed in 5-star hotels everywhere we went for free because she had accumulated so many points over the years.
In the meantime, as for me, I plan to visit Oman next week — which will be my 11th country this year alone — and I can also stay in places for free if I want to, with even less time and effort.
There’s always ways… if you know how 🙂
A few years ago, I had a 6-month housesit in Thonglor, the trendiest area of Bangkok, looking after a cat. The condo was equipped with pools, gyms, and security… and ran for about $700 a month, so by my estimation I saved around $5,000 when including utilities…
I’ve also had extended stays at beautiful boutique hotels in various tropical countries in return for offering free website / marketing help in return for a room, such as setting up a WordPress website for them (a lot of these people really need this help, and if you are reading this, chances are you have some skills that are very sought-after).
Now, if you stick to traveling to countries like India and Nepal and Malaysia and Thailand, the cost of living is already so cheap that you probably don’t need this…
But if you want to “reverse geo-arbitrage” and stay in places like Tokyo and Amsterdam and Rome for free… then this is a very effective strategy that can save you thousands.
Barter and Save Big Time
I remember that Dan Kennedy, in his book,”No BS Marketing to the Rich,” says that wealthy people often barter with one another. And it makes sense… it’s a great way to help each other in a mutually beneficial way that bypasses the entire sales process… as well as tax-free.
In any case, there are a number of websites and applications where you can travel and stay for free, here are a few of them:
Couchsurfing, Trusted Housesitters, MindMyHouse, WorkAway, Worldpackers, Home Exchange, Love Home Swap, Camp in My Garden, Free Roam and many more…
Each of these is similar, but serves a different purpose… So it’s worth looking into each to find the one that suits you best.
Before I left Nepal in August, I signed up for Trusted Housesitters and used Chat GPT to help me build my profile, and was able to secure a housesit in Dubai for two weeks where I can stay at a new condo with all amenities in return for looking after the owner’s dog, saving me several hundreds of dollars.
I’m considering doing the same over the holiday season (a peak time for securing housesits) and visiting new cities I’ve never been.
The rub is that whenever you apply for opportunities on any of these websites, the expectation is that you will read the person’s profile and what they are looking for first, so that you can send a personalized, in depth outreach to secure the best chance.
The interesting thing is that you no longer have to, because Chat GPT can read the information for you… and write a perfect, personalized pitch on your behalf…
And you can send out ten of these personalized pitches in ten minutes… something that might have taken an hour to do the conventional way (provided you, unlike me, have a perfect attention span and aren’t checking Instagram at all during that time).
The fact that you can do this all at scale, and quickly, and write professional and perfect outreach messages… Gives you a huge leg up over the competition and makes your chances of finding success very likely.
Speed is a big part of success at anything… and scale + speed is a potent combo. As Dan Kennedy has said, “You can’t start a fire by rubbing two sticks together slowly.”
AI enables a blend of speed and scale which has never been matched in history 🙂
